Large indigenous forests across Africa are being pillaged for their valuable hardwoods – mahoganey, teak and rosewood. Inspite of bans, illegal logging continues unabated in many parts of Africa including Uganda. William Amanzuru grew up near Zoka Forest in the north west of the country and is risking his life to “speak for the trees, because they cannot speak for themselves”.
